Text in English. The book is a result of the author's professional experience and research which continued for many years. Her interest in the topic of ancient bronze dated back to 1984, when Bulgaria hosted the Fourth International Congress on Ancient Bronze. The book presents the bronze sculptures in the Ancient Bulgaria. The bronze figurines collection of the National Museum of Archaeology in Sofia, hoarded from all over Bulgaria in the course of more than a century long, presents a complete impression and clearly outlined characteristics of this art developing over the Bulgarian territories. Noteworthy collections are also housed in the museums of Stara Zagora, Kyustendil, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Varna, Pleven, Burgas, Yambol, etc. The number of bronze statuettes and appliques is rather significant, and contributes to our knowledge and research on the bronze from any particular region. The ancient bronze from Bulgaria had roused the interest of specialists long before the discovery of the outstanding treasures that fascinated the world and revived the attention to the Bulgarian cultural heritage, to the Thracians and their culture.
