Introduction
John Grisham was born in Arkansas, USA, in 1955, and up in a family of five children. He studied accounting and law in Mississippi, graduating in 1981.
Grisham became a lawyer, but he was also involved in politics; in 1983 he was elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives. In 1984 he began to write his first book, A Time to Kill. His second book, The Firm, became a best-seller and made him famous. Grisham was then able to give up law to become a writer. All his books have now been best-sellers and six of them have been made into movies.
Grisham lives in Virginia and Mississippi with his wife and two children. He has sold over fifty-five million copies of his books worldwide, and is one of the world s most popular
